Samantha Ponder Bio
Samantha Ponder, born December 11 1985 is an American sportscaster and host of Sunday NFL Countdown (ESPN). Before hosting Sunday NFL Countdown, Ponder worked as a reporter/host for ESPN college football and also as an ESPN basketball sideline reporter. Ponder substituted Erin Andrews on College GameDay Saturdays at 10 AM ET on ESPN and was also co-host of the Saturday edition at 9 AM ET on ESPNU. In addition to her work in College Gameday, Ponder had been the regular sideline reporter for ESPN's Thursday Night College Football with Rece Davis, Jesse Palmer, and David Pollack from August 2012 until 2014. Ponder was also a guest on the ESPN-owned regional channel oriented towards Texas, the Longhorn Network. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Ponder attended Central High School in Phoenix. After graduating from high school, Ponder attended The King's College in New York City. While in New York City, she sought a hostess position at ESPN Zone where she met Ben Keeperman, a college football coach and researcher with ABC Sports Radio and that led to an internship at the network which in turn led to a researcher-assistant position at ABC-TV for the college football studio show. She transferred to Liberty University after Liberty's Sr. Sports Producer Bruce Carey offered her a job as a sideline reporter on the Liberty Flames sports television network. She graduated in 2009 and worked as a reporter on the sidelines at Fox Sports Net and Fox College Sports for Pac-10 and Big 12 college football and basketball games. ESPN's Longhorn Network, July 7 2011, announced that Ponder was its reporter on the sidelines. Ponder along with Kevin Dunn and Lowell Galindo, were the newly created network's three first talent hires. Ponder moved to Austin, Texas after accepting the Longhorn Network position.
