Maureen O'Hara Biography

 Maureen O'Hara was a renowned American actress and singer from Irish descent. The passionate, fiery roles she played in a range of American films were appreciated by the beautiful green-eyed beauty sporting flame-colored hair and eyes. Her glamour and beauty were awe-inspiring. She was also known as'the Queen of Technicolor' in Hollywood. Her roles onscreen were a reflection of her brave, strong character. She was determined to be recognized and survival within the male-dominated culture. She was known as the "tough Irish girl" and refused to compromise her standing or respect to get the roles she won by merit. She was a strong advocate for women actors in film and television, and gained a large following due to this. Her autobiography, 'Tis Herself', published in 2004, gave an honest and unfiltered description of her life experiences including her difficulties in climbing the ladder to success. She was an adventurous woman who didn't hesitate in performing her own stunts. She starred in over 60 films, and was a international star. After leaving Parra and her husband, she got married to Charles F. Blair Jr. in 1968. Blair was a brigadier, a chief pilot. He was also a pioneer in transatlantic aviation. O'Hara eventually retired after couple of years of marriage. Blair however, died in a fatal plane crash in the year 1978. O'Hara's joy was only temporary. In the same year, she was also diagnosed as suffering from uterine cancer and required to undergo urgent surgery. The cancer eventually cleared. Over the next few years, her health was declining and she suffered from six heart attacks, memory loss in the short term as well as diabetes mellitus type 2. On the 24th of October, 2015, O'Hara died peacefully at Boise, Idaho, from natural causes at 95.
