ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2nd 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. Morgan was raised by her parents in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan played many sports as a kid, but only started to play soccer when she reached the age of 14. Morgan was a member of the Cypress Elite club team and took home the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship. Morgan also finished third in the under-19 bracket. Morgan continued her education at Diamond Bar High School, where she improved her soccer abilities. Morgan was selected as an All-American Athlete by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). She also participated in the Olympic Development Program's state and regional divisions. Morgan continued her soccer career at UC Berkeley, where she was the leader of the California Golden Bears team in scoring since the beginning of her season. She assisted in taking the team to the NCAA Tournament all four years and made it into the second round twice. Morgan was one of four finalists in the Honda Sports Award. She also became the first Hermann Trophy finalist from her school. Morgan graduated from Berkeley in the first semester of 2010, and was ranked as the third best player among the top scorers of all time in goals, points and assists. Morgan was able manage soccer careers at both the college and national levels during her college education. When she first joined the Berkeley team, Morgan experienced an ACL injury that stopped her from participating in the U.S. under-20 women's soccer team until April. She scored her first international goal in Mexico at the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also a part-time player in the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She scored four goals and earned her team a gold medal. One of those goals was a victory over Italy that secured the U.S. team the final place at the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player of the team and was instrumental in helping to win the game against France. Though the U.S. ultimately lost to Japan, Morgan became the first player in history to score a goal and an assist in the final World Cup game.
