Amy Carlson

Amy Carlson was raised in Glen Ellyn (Illinois) and spent her entire childhood living in Chicago. Amy lived with her family in Chicago when she was in junior high. Parents, Bob, and Barb taught at the American School in the Middle East. Amy has three siblings, sisters Betsy and Lori and brother Joe. Amy has traveled all over Europe both with her family and alone. Both of them were teachers and were able to travel and camp together every summer due to this. They've camped in every state, with the exception of Alaska. Amy was also in Rwanda after the war in 1994 to aid in relief efforts. Amy was a talented actor in school plays , and she won writing contests. High school was where she was a star athlete taking part in the first ever 3200 meter relay for girls in the Illinois track. After college, she suffered an injury, she returned the stage with a variety of roles on stage, beginning with Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July" and also directing Wallace Shawn's "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy was a student at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois and graduated cum laude with an B.A. East Asian history with a focus in Theater. After graduation, she moved to Chicago where she pursued studies in Improv at The Improv Olympics and Acting at The Actor's Center. Following graduation, she took on a contract as an actress on the defunct soap drama Another World (1964). In the category of "Outstanding supporting actress in an Daytime Drama Series", she was nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards. The most memorable characters have been those performed by strong women, like Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone ((2000)), Katie Owen and Tom Berenger in Peacemakers(2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods(2003). Carlson resides in New York City with husband Syd Butler, bassist in Les Savy Fav, where she also operates in the independent music business as a part-owner of the independent label "Frenchkiss Records". Amy is still seeking different and unique roles in the film industry.
