Rochon was born and raised in Torrance. She was the daughter of Zelma Staples (a nurse practitioner) and Samuel Staples (a businessman and graphic artist). She graduated in 1982 of Cerritos High School, located in Cerritos, California. Rochon received a degree in broadcasting journalism at California State University Dominguez Heights (CSUDH) in the year 1986. Her other minors include sociology, theatre and theatre. Ullerup's first role was that as Julia Brynn on the remake TV series Battlestar Galactica in 2006, that aired on Sci Fi Channel. Ullerup played Ashley Magnus in the first and second seasons of the TV show Sanctuary until her character was written out. A lot of fans demanded her return even though the show had been removed from the air. Ullerup starred as Bree O'Brien on Chesapeake Shores in 2016. Ullerup played Maggie Thomas the estranged husband of Michael Thomas. Ullerup also played Dale Travers, a recurring role on Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered films, from 2016 to today.
